TARGET PERISTIWA SUKABUMI – The head of Sukabumi Police, AKBP Dr. Samian, S.H., S.I.K., M.Si., conducted an on-site inspection of a landslide-hit area in Cijambe Village, Bantargadung District, Sukabumi Regency on Thursday (March 5, 2026). During the assessment, authorities confirmed the affected zone has been secured and closed to residents to prevent further risks.

AKBP Samian emphasized that residents are temporarily prohibited from returning to their homes or even visiting the disaster site, as ground conditions remain unstable and movement is still occurring.

"Following our direct inspection, we found the soil is still loose and shifting. Therefore, we are ensuring no residents enter the area – whether to retrieve belongings or simply to observe – as the site poses extreme danger," he stated.

To prevent casualties, local police forces, together with Warungkiara Police Station led by AKP H. Retno Panji Setiaji, have established access restrictions to the affected region. Officers are deployed at multiple checkpoints to enforce the ban on unauthorized entry.

In addition, police coordinated with state electricity company PLN to cut power supply to the most severely affected areas, as a precautionary measure to avoid additional hazards for the community.

Authorities also highlighted their focus on the well-being of displaced residents, ensuring evacuees receive adequate services and facilities at temporary shelters.

"We are committed to providing the best possible support for evacuees, ranging from suitable temporary accommodation to sufficient food supplies," AKBP Samian explained.

Sukabumi Police have distributed logistical aid provided by the West Java Regional Police to meet the basic needs of those displaced by the disaster.

To support evacuees’ food requirements, the local government, in collaboration with Sukabumi Regency’s Social Services Department, has set up a field kitchen. Police personnel are assisting in providing essential ingredients for its operations.

The police chief issued a firm appeal to evacuees to refrain from returning to their homes in the immediate term, citing ongoing risks of further ground movement.

"We urge all evacuees not to attempt to check on their homes yet, as the area remains vulnerable. Any renewed landslide activity could lead to serious harm," he stressed.

Addressing concerns over personal belongings left behind in affected homes, AKBP Samian confirmed that police personnel are stationed in the area to provide security and surveillance.

"Regarding residents’ property left in their homes, we have deployed officers to guard the area. There is no need for the community to worry about the safety of their belongings," he concluded.
